Challenge

The goal was to increase brand consideration in the U.S. market during Q4, traditionally a highly competitive period in the beauty industry. The challenge lay in capturing the attention of a broad audience while ensuring the campaigns were targeted enough to drive meaningful engagement and conversions.

Solution

To achieve the client’s objectives, we implemented a multi-layered YouTube Ads strategy, using the following approach:

1. Comprehensive Audience Analysis

We conducted an in-depth analysis of historical data from Google Ads and Google Analytics, covering demographics, device usage, and previous campaign performance across non-brand keywords. This helped identify key segments, including age groups, gender, affinity groups, and in-market audiences. The target audience was primarily women aged 18-54+.

2. Strategic Funnel Structure on YouTube

We developed a three-phase funnel, allocating budgets according to campaign goals:
– Awareness (42% of budget): Video views campaign interest segments through a CPV (cost-per-view) bid strategy, using multi-format ads (skippable in-stream, in-feed, and Shorts) and a mix of influencer and user-generated content (UGC).
– Consideration (33% of budget): Campaigns focused on high-performing non-brand keywords and in-market audiences. The ads featured 15-second influencer content to encourage deeper engagement.
– Conversion (25% of budget): Drive conversions campaign using skippable in-stream ads, targeting viewers who have shown previous interest. The bid strategy was optimized for maximum conversions.

3. Data-Driven Campaign Management

We used Google’s Reach Planner for accurate budget and reach estimations.
Cleaned up placements by excluding irrelevant apps and websites, ensuring ad spend was directed towards the most suitable placements.
Continuously refined audience targeting based on ongoing performance data.

Results

The YouTube Ads strategy delivered outstanding results, enhancing brand visibility and driving significant engagement metrics:

– Increased Brand Consideration: The campaigns recorded a substantial uplift in brand awareness across all targeted segments, as evidenced by the $310,448 revenue generated from direct traffic sources, marking an impressive +92% YoY growth.
– Enhanced Audience Engagement: The overall engagement rate reached over 72%, with nearly 77% of viewers watching at least 75% of the video content.
– Overall Revenue Growth: Year-over-Year revenue increased by +136%, resulting in an additional $859,180 generated.
